FKF, KBC, SportPesa, Murang’a Seal and Shabana Issue Joint Clarification on Broadcast Hitch
Football authorities and key league partners have issued a joint clarification after the Murang’a Seal vs Shabana match failed to air on KBC Channel One, assuring fans that neither club was responsible for the disruption.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF), alongside KBC, SportPesa, Murang’a Seal and Shabana FC, has released a joint statement addressing the failure to broadcast the Murang’a Seal vs Shabana SportPesa Premier League match that had been scheduled for live coverage on KBC Channel One.
According to the clarification, the fixture did not air as planned due to capacity challenges faced by the contracted production company, which was responsible for delivering the live broadcast feed. The partners emphasised that the issue was purely operational and not caused by either of the two clubs.
The statement also dismissed circulating claims alleging that Murang’a Seal or Shabana obstructed the broadcast. Officials described the rumours as “false and unfounded,” reiterating that neither club contributed to the setback in any way.
Apology to Fans and Commitment to Improve Coverage
The joint communiqué extended an apology to supporters, sponsors and stakeholders affected by the disruption, acknowledging the importance of reliable broadcast access in expanding the league’s reach.
The partners reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing the quality and consistency of local football coverage, promising improved coordination to prevent similar mishaps in future match broadcasts.
“We remain dedicated to improving our broadcast delivery and ensuring such disruptions are avoided going forward,” the statement noted.
Looking Ahead
Despite the setback, the involved parties expressed gratitude to fans and stakeholders for their patience and continued support. With the SportPesa Premier League gaining increased visibility, the assurance of improved broadcast stability will be crucial in maintaining trust and strengthening the league’s growing audience.
