Premier League Project Restart is 'set final deadline for decision on return this season'

Premier League clubs must reach an agreement over resuming the campaign by May 28, according to reports.

Leagues across Europe had initially been told by Uefa to spell out their plans for resumption by May 25 at the latest, but the postponement of a Uefa Executive Committee meeting has bought some breathing space.

The meeting had been originally scheduled to take place on May 27, but this has now been pushed back to June 17.

Still, after weeks of planning and proposals, top flight bosses must reach a definitive conclusion on a return to action within the next 10 days.

The Sun reports that clubs will be asked to decide on May 28 whether to bring back football behind closed doors or scrap plans for a return this season altogether.

A June 12 start has been described by Premier League chief executive Richard Masters as a "staging post", and with growing calls for at least four weeks of full training it looks likely that date will be pushed back.

Tottenham's home game against Manchester United is reportedly being considered as the second curtain-raiser of the Premier League season.

United's first visit to Tottenham's £1billion stadium "has been mentioned" as a candidate for the first game back, a match originally scheduled for March 15.

The Friday night game would be followed by four games on both Saturday and Sunday and one game on Monday evening, with all 10 games broadcast live on TV.
