The Slum Boys struck at the death courtesy of Omulanga to deny Robert Matano’s charges a first league win

Tusker FC have been held to a 1-1 draw in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match played on Saturday at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Timothy Otieno opened the scoring for the hosts in the second half before substitute Klinsman Omulanga made it even with the last kick of the game.
The Brewers fell 5-2 to Gor Mahia in their opening game two weeks ago, and they had to bounce back against the Slum Boys who were held to a barren draw by visiting Bandari FC.

Surprisingly, coach Robert Matano opted not to include winger Boniface Muchiri who scored a brace for the 11-time champions.

The first real threat for the hosts came in the 10th minute when the dangerous Chris Ochieng was fed the ball just outside the 18-yard area. Unfortunately, his one-time effort was deflected out for an unfruitful corner.

Moments later, it was the Salim Ali-led side who were under attack, but goalkeeper Job Ochieng was alert to deny Jackson Macharia who was sure of opening the account for the Brewers.

The first half was not entertaining in terms of attack as both sides resorted to a cautious play. However, it was the Slum Boys who finished on a high and were unlucky not to have gotten an opener in the 42nd minute.

A perfect ball was played to Owino who was within range, but his 12-yard shot was pushed out by the hawk-eyed Emery Mvuyekure for a corner which was dealt with well.

After the break, the Slum Boys came back stronger as they looked keen to get a goal early and put their hosts under pressure.

In the 52nd minute, Mathare did well to win a corner which was perfectly taken, however, Rogers Aloro was in a good position to deny them with the goalkeeper already beaten.

Against the run of play, the hosts took a lead in the 72nd minute. Harun Junior fouled Luke Namanda and the referee pointed to the penalty spot, and Timothy Otieno rose for the occasion, sending the goalkeeper the wrong way.

The hosts held on and looked destined for victory, however, Mathare continued pressing for an equalizer and it came in the dying minutes courtesy of substitute Klinsman Omulanga.

The youngster spotted the goalkeeper from outside the 18-yard box before curling the ball beautifully into the back of the net. Article From Goal
