Leeds United snatched the Championship title on goal difference in a thrilling final-day showdown, as both they and Burnley ended the season with 100 points. A last-gasp goal from Manor Solomon sealed a 2-1 win at Plymouth, condemning the hosts to relegation and edging Leeds ahead of Burnley, who beat Millwall 3-1. Elsewhere, Frank Lampard's Coventry completed a remarkable rise to clinch a playoff spot, setting up a tense postseason battle for the final Premier League promotion place.

Leeds United claimed the Championship crown in spectacular fashion on Saturday, edging out Burnley on goal difference after both sides finished level on 100 points.

In a nerve-wracking afternoon, Leeds fell behind to Plymouth Argyle through a Sam Byram own goal. Wilfried Gnonto brought them level early in the second half, but with Burnley ahead at Millwall, Daniel Farke’s side knew only a win would be enough. It came in dramatic style — Tottenham loanee Manor Solomon netting in stoppage time to secure a 2-1 victory and condemn Plymouth to relegation.

Burnley’s 3-1 win proved futile as Leeds’ superior goal difference crowned them champions.

“I can’t put into words what I’m feeling right now,” an emotional Solomon told BBC Radio. “It’s a dream come true to score the winner and lift this trophy.”

Both clubs had secured Premier League promotion weeks earlier, but it was Leeds who lifted the title.

Meanwhile, Sheffield United secured third place with a 1-1 draw against Blackburn Rovers, who heartbreakingly missed the playoffs by two points. Frank Lampard’s Coventry City completed an incredible turnaround, rising from 17th when he took over in November to secure fifth place with a 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.

The playoff battles are now set: Sheffield United will face Bristol City, while Sunderland meet Coventry in a bid for Premier League football. The playoffs will take place between May 8-13, with the final at Wembley on May 24.
