Tusker FC turned on the style to see off Murang’a Seal 2-0 in Machakos, while Sofapaka and Kariobangi Sharks played out a cagey goalless draw in a tense FKF Premier League clash.
Tusker came out of the blocks with intent and were rewarded in the 12th minute when Deogratius Ojok powered past three defenders and slammed home after a clever flick from Charles Oguta. The goal marked Ojok’s third in six matches, continuing his fine run of form.
Despite a few good chances for Murang’a including a wide effort from Waithira and a dangerous cutback that just evaded everyone Tusker held the lead firmly into the break.
Barely two minutes after coming on in the 58th minute, Rodgers Balecho stunned his former club with a powerful turn-and-shoot goal to double Tusker’s lead. The finish left no chance for the keeper and capped a quick and decisive impact off the bench.
Murang’a were handed a lifeline in the 60th minute when they won a penalty — but Waithira blasted it over the bar, a missed opportunity that summed up their night.
Tusker nearly added a third after some intricate play from Ian and Jacob Onyango, whose goal was controversially ruled out for offside.
Sofapaka and Kariobangi Sharks Settle for a Point
Kariobangi Sharks earned a crucial away point after a goalless draw against Sofapaka on Saturday, in a cagey FKF Premier League Matchday 30 fixture that saw both teams cancel each other out with limited clear-cut chances.
The Sharks, who have been striving to stabilize their season, fielded a youthful and determined side that stayed compact and committed throughout the 90 minutes. Led by captain Kevinluke Otiala, the visitors showed grit and composure in the defensive phases of the game.
Despite good midfield rotation from Leonlevitt Otieno and Isaac Wasambo, the Sharks struggled to create decisive moments in the final third. Their standout opportunity came from Keagan Ndemi midway through the first half, but his low shot fizzed narrowly wide.
The game went into halftime deadlocked at 0-0, with Sharks rallying their fans:
Sofapaka, meanwhile, pressed for a breakthrough in the second half and had several half-chances. However, Sharks goalkeeper Sebastian Wekesa stood firm, making a key stop in the 70th minute to deny Rodgers Kipkirui from close range.
As the clock wound down, it became increasingly clear that both teams were settling for a point — a reflection of their well-matched tactical discipline.
The draw takes Kariobangi Sharks to 33 points, comfortably above the relegation zone, while Sofapaka stay 8th with 40 points — still clinging to hopes of a strong finish this season.
