Arsenal are stepping up their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres as they aim to reinforce their attack ahead of next season. The Gunners are preparing a lucrative contract offer for the prolific Swede, though an official bid is yet to be made. With a new centre-forward topping Mikel Arteta’s summer wishlist, Gyökeres has emerged as a prime target following a sensational goalscoring run in Portugal.

Arsenal are intensifying their search for a top-class striker ahead of next season, with Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres emerging as a prime target.

The Gunners are reportedly preparing a lucrative contract offer for the prolific Sweden international as they look to bolster their attacking options. However, no official bid has been submitted yet.

After another campaign without silverware, Arsenal are determined to invest heavily this summer. Sporting director Andrea Berta is leading the push for a high-profile centre-forward to support Mikel Arteta’s title ambitions. While Newcastle’s Alexander Isak remains a long-time favourite of Arteta’s, the Magpies are unwilling to sell, and interest in RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško has cooled.

Gyokeres, who turns 27 next month, has been in sensational form for Sporting, scoring an impressive 95 goals in 100 appearances. His outstanding performances have made him one of Europe’s most sought-after forwards. Having previously played in England with Coventry City and Brighton, Gyökeres is said to be open to a Premier League return.

With Arsenal eager to strengthen their frontline and build a squad capable of challenging for major honours, the Swedish striker could be the marquee signing to lead their attack next season.
