Leandro Trossard’s second-half goal and Thomas Partey’s late strike sealed a 2-0 win for Arsenal over Aston Villa in a tightly contested Premier League match.
The Gunners dominated possession in the first half but were unable to break through a resolute Villa defense. Emi Martinez made a crucial save to deny Bukayo Saka, while Ollie Watkins spurned a golden opportunity at the other end.
The deadlock was finally broken in the 67th minute when Trossard finished off a counter-attack with a clinical finish. Partey added a second goal in the 77th minute to seal the win for Mikel Arteta’s side.
The victory moves Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table, while Aston Villa remain in mid-table.
