Gor Mahia Football Club has announced new measures to improve security and ticketing at their home matches following challenges experienced during the Mashemeji Derby in Homa Bay.
Gor Mahia Football Club has issued an official statement thanking fans for their exemplary behavior during the Mashemeji Derby held on 2nd June 2025 at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay. The club acknowledged the passionate support and peaceful atmosphere created by fans, making the historic derby a memorable occasion.
However, the club expressed regret over the confusion experienced at the stadium gates and assured supporters that steps are being taken to streamline matchday operations going forward. In a bold move, the club’s management announced that all gates during home matches will now be managed by alternative security personnel, removing stewards, branch representatives, and internal Gor Mahia security until further notice.
Additionally, the club is strengthening its branch network by directing all branches countrywide to pay a KSh. 20,000 affiliation fee and conduct internal elections within 60 days. Each branch must have at least 50 active members and nominate two stewards, who will be required to present valid certificates of good conduct before assuming their roles.
On ticketing matters, Gor Mahia reaffirmed its commitment to the newly introduced e-ticketing system, urging fans to purchase tickets early through official links to avoid inconveniences. The club also warned against buying tickets from unofficial sources, stressing that even club officials must buy their own tickets for home matches.
These changes, according to Secretary General Arum N.O, are part of the club’s broader efforts to modernize operations and enhance the matchday experience for fans.
