Kenya Police FC have secured their maiden FKF Premier League title with a decisive 1-0 win over Shabana FC, capping off a season of dramatic transformation under coach Etienne Ndayiragije.
Kenya Police FC were officially crowned the 2024/2025 FKF Premier League champions on Sunday after edging Shabana FC 1-0 in a high-stakes clash at Machakos. This marks the club’s first-ever top-flight title, completing a stunning rise from a mid-table outfit to national champions.
The decisive goal came in the 75th minute, when Gabriel Odhiambo rose highest to head home from a perfectly delivered corner by Tyson Otieno. The victory took Police to 64 points, putting them six clear of second-placed Gor Mahia, who beat Ulinzi Stars 3-2 in Nairobi.
Head coach Etienne Ndayiragije etched his name in the club’s history books, having led the team to its first championship despite only joining midway through the season. The former Burundi national team boss replaced Salim Babu, who was dismissed alongside his technical staff following a poor run of results.
Before Ndayiragije’s appointment, interim duties were handled by Beldine Odemba — also head coach of the Kenya Women Premier League champions Police Bullets — who briefly held the reins while continuing her women’s team responsibilities.
Police FC will officially be handed the league trophy in their final home fixture against Gor Mahia next weekend.
The law enforcers, who were promoted to the FKF Premier League in the 2020/21 season, have shown steady progress, finishing 10th, 4th, and 3rd in their previous campaigns. Their historic triumph now earns them a spot in next season’s CAF Champions League. They last featured in continental action during the CAF Confederation Cup, where they were eliminated by Egypt’s Zamalek in the second preliminary round.
Sunday’s FKF Premier League Results:
AFC Leopards 3-1 FC Talanta
Tusker FC 0-0 Kariobangi Sharks
Mara Sugar 0-0 Murang’a SEAL
Bandari 0-0 Mathare United
Sofapaka 2-1 Posta Rangers

The final round of matches is expected to cap off an exciting season, with Kenya Police FC now looking ahead to the continental stage as national champions.
