Posta Rangers put on an assured performance at the Annex, defeating Nairobi United 2-0 in a match that highlighted their intent, cohesion and growing confidence. From the opening whistle, the Mailmen set the tempo, pressing high and forcing errors as they sought early control.

The breakthrough arrived inside the first ten minutes. Sharp combination play involving Dwang and Kevin Juma Marita opened up the Nairobi United defence, before the ball was laid into Dwang’s path. His strike found the net and sparked lively scenes in the stands as Posta took an early lead.

Nairobi United attempted to respond and even enjoyed moments of encouragement. Frank Ouya came closest to drawing them level with a thunderous effort from distance that crashed against the post, while Majaliwa later failed to punish a rare defensive lapse, firing wide when well placed. Posta, however, remained dangerous whenever they moved forward.

Midway through the first half, Ivan Ochieng’s corner almost produced a second goal when Faustine Ojiambo’s header struck the crossbar. The pressure eventually told in the 34th minute. Neat interplay in midfield saw Olilo release Brian Chonjo Otieno, who calmly placed the ball past the onrushing goalkeeper to double Posta’s advantage before the interval.

Holding a 2-0 lead at halftime, Posta Rangers adopted a balanced approach in the second half, combining controlled possession with swift transitions. Nairobi United pushed forward in waves, but goalkeeper Bixente Otieno stood firm, producing a series of crucial saves that underlined his importance to the side.

The turning point for any potential comeback came in the 82nd minute. Nairobi United were awarded a penalty, but Bixente rose to the occasion, brilliantly denying Karamor from the spot and preserving Posta’s clean sheet. The save deflated the visitors and further energized the Mailmen.

Late on, Posta continued to threaten. Odada nearly added a spectacular third with a thunderous strike from midfield that struck the post after the ball was picked up from a loose clearance. Despite additional time being added, the scoreline remained unchanged as Posta comfortably saw out the match.

At full time, Posta Rangers celebrated a professional and disciplined win, one that justified the optimism around the team and reinforced their credentials going forward. Nairobi United showed glimpses of fight, but ultimately could not overcome a sharper, more composed opponent on the day.
