Despite a valiant final-day victory over West Ham, Leicester City were relegated from the Premier League—just seven years after their historic title win—as Everton's survival sealed the Foxes' fate. Emotional scenes unfolded at the King Power, where hope turned to heartbreak in a matter of minutes.

Leicester City’s nine-year stay in the Premier League came to a painful end on a dramatic final day, as a 2-1 win over West Ham wasn’t enough to avoid relegation. Just seven years on from their miraculous title triumph and two years after lifting the FA Cup, the Foxes now face the harsh reality of life in the Championship.

As confirmation of their relegation filtered through, the mood inside the stadium shifted. James Maddison crouched on the pitch in disbelief, while Youri Tielemans waved farewell to the fans in what is likely his final appearance for the club. Fans, who had anxiously clung to the hope of a miracle, were left to process the fall from football’s summit to its second tier.

Leicester were defeated 1-0 by Liverpool in a match that all but sealed their fate. A late rocket from Trent Alexander-Arnold, combined with a toothless attacking display, left the Foxes hanging by a thread—one that finally snapped on Sunday.

Despite moments of promise against West Ham—including a brilliant goal from Barnes and an inspired performance from Kelechi Iheanacho—Leicester’s fate was out of their hands. Dean Smith, appointed with just eight games remaining, managed to rally his side late on, but their dismal form over the previous months had already done the damage.

A mix of resignation and sorrow washed over the King Power faithful. Some fans jeered, others applauded, and many simply stood in stunned silence. From the glorious highs of 2016 to the crushing low of 2025, Leicester’s rollercoaster ride in the Premier League has reached its end—for now.
