Paul Scholes
has been in talks with the League Two club for the past month, but his involvement with Salford City caused delays.
However, Sky Sports News has reported that Scholes has finally been appointed as the EFL do not think there is a conflict of interest with Scholes’ 10 per cent stake in Salford and he is now free to take over at boyhood club Oldham.
And the Scholes appointment is expected on Monday after the League Two side called a press conference to announce their new manager.
Oldham said in a statement: “The club will be holding a press conference tomorrow (Monday 11 February) at 2pm to unveil the new first team manager.”
Scholes will replace Frankie Bunn, who was sacked in December.
