Newcastle United have ‘started talks’ with Napoli over a move for forward Hirving Lozano this summer.
That’s according to Arena Napoli, who say the two clubs have been ‘exchanging information’ ahead of a possible summer splurge at St James Park.
The Magpies, as you will be well aware of by this point, are in the midst of a takeover from a wealthy Saudi Arabian investment group.
Should that go through it would make them the wealthiest club, as far as owners are concerned, in the Premier League by some distance and, naturally, the rumour mill has been sent into overdrive with suggestions of how they may spend that money.
Most of their interest seems to be on Napoli, with both Kalidou Koulibaly and Allan having been linked with moves already.
Now their teammate Lozano can be added to the list, with Arena Napoli saying Newcastle have held ‘simple contacts’ with Napoli over a potential move for the Mexican.
So far there has been nothing concrete, the two clubs have simply been ‘exchanging information’ on the Mexican forward.
There is a price tag, though, with Napoli chief Aurelio De Laurentiis making it clear he will not sell Lozano on the cheap after paying €40m, including bonuses and such like, last summer.
Newcastle are not the only side to have shown interest, with Everton and West Ham also having ‘felt the pulse’ with his entourage in recent weeks.
