Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba has announced a 23-player squad for the upcoming CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship in Tanzania, using the tournament as a key step in preparing for Kenya’s crucial WAFCON 2026 qualifier against Gambia.
Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba has officially named a 23-player squad set to compete in the 2025 CECAFA Senior Women’s Championship, scheduled for June 12–22 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The regional tournament will act as a critical warm-up for Kenya ahead of their final round WAFCON 2026 qualifier against Gambia, as the Starlets aim to return to Africa’s top women’s football stage for the first time since their debut in 2016.
Among the fresh faces in the squad are Medina Abubakar Hussein, a dynamic midfielder from Kibera Soccer Women, and Swaum Nanjaka Masungo, a promising forward from Vihiga Queens—both receiving their first senior team call-ups.
The team is set to report to camp on the evening of Monday, June 10, and will depart for Tanzania the following day. Coach Odemba emphasized that CECAFA will provide a vital platform to assess squad cohesion and sharpen tactics ahead of the high-stakes continental qualifier.
