Police FC moved six points clear at the top with two games to go, edging Talanta 1-0, while Sofapaka lit up the weekend with a stunning 7-1 demolition of Tusker, effectively ending the Brewers’ title hopes.

Police FC moved within touching distance of their first-ever FKF Premier League title after a narrow 1-0 victory over Talanta FC at Kenyatta Stadium on Sunday. David Simiyu’s 15th-minute strike proved enough to hand the law enforcers all three points, stretching their lead at the top to six with just two games remaining.

But while Police quietly tightened their grip on the title race, all eyes were on Dandora Stadium, where Sofapaka turned on the style to humiliate Tusker FC 7-1 in what could be the most memorable performance of the season. Jack Onganya starred with a hat-trick, Edward Ondimo bagged a brace, and Rodgers Kipkemoi and Wyne Messi added a goal each in a ruthless display that sent shockwaves through the title race.

Tusker, who came into the game already under pressure after a 2-0 defeat to Talanta in midweek, were dismantled in the first half alone — conceding four goals before the break. Though they briefly pulled one back in the 64th minute, Sofapaka continued to press, scoring three more times to compound the Brewers’ misery and officially derail their championship hopes.

The win was also crucial for Sofapaka’s season, lifting them to seventh on 43 points and ending a worrying winless run. More than just three points, the victory restored pride and proved they can still go toe-to-toe with the league’s best on their day.

Gor Mahia’s hopes of retaining their title also took a significant hit as they were held to a goalless draw by relegation-threatened Murang’a Seal at Sebastian Park. Despite dominating play, K’Ogalo couldn’t find the breakthrough and have now dropped five points in their last two outings. They remain third on 54 points but hold a game in hand against archrivals AFC Leopards — a fixture that has now taken on even greater importance.

Kakamega Homeboyz quietly moved level with Gor Mahia on 54 points after a composed 2-0 win over Kariobangi Sharks in Nairobi. Second-half goals from Estone Omengo and Michael Shumah ensured a fourth straight win for the Homeboyz, who now find themselves in the thick of the race for continental spots.

Elsewhere, Shabana’s push for a top-four finish hit a snag after a 1-0 home loss to Mara Sugar. Collins Oucho’s 42nd-minute goal was enough to secure a crucial win for the visitors, helping them climb to 13th with 35 points.

In Mombasa, a rain-soaked affair between Bandari and AFC Leopards ended in a 0-0 stalemate. The highlight came in the 65th minute when Brian Wanyama’s penalty was saved by Bandari’s Farouk Shikalo, denying Leopards a golden chance to steal victory. The result leaves Leopards sixth on 46 points, while Bandari sit just behind in eighth with 42.

Meanwhile, Nairobi City Stars fought back to earn a 1-1 draw against Posta Rangers. After trailing at halftime, the hosts equalized in the 66th minute through Otieno V., preserving a valuable point in their relegation fight.

As it stands, Police FC top the table with 61 points from 32 games, followed by Tusker on 55 and Gor Mahia on 54 with a game in hand. Kakamega Homeboyz also sit on 54 but with an inferior goal difference. With two matches to go, the title is now Police’s to lose, and after Sunday’s statement performance across the league, the pressure is squarely on their rivals to respond.
