Harambee Starlets head coach Beldine Odemba has unveiled a 23-player squad to face Morocco in a crucial international friendly, with several key players making their return ahead of the 2026 WAFCON qualifiers.

The Harambee Starlets are gearing up for a big test next week after head coach Beldine Odemba named a 23-player squad for an international friendly against Morocco on June 4, 2025. The match comes as a vital tune-up as the Starlets continue preparing for the final round of the 2026 Women Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers later this year.

The North African side, currently ranked 60th in the FIFA Women’s World Rankings, promises to be a challenging opponent — and Odemba is taking no chances, recalling several experienced names while offering opportunities to rising talents.

Fresh Faces and Familiar Names

Among the eye-catching call-ups is Kibera Soccer Women’s goalkeeper Vivian Shiyonzo, who enjoyed a standout season in the FKF Women’s Premier League, finishing second in the clean sheet rankings. She’ll team up with established shot-stopper Annedy Kundu between the posts.

In defence, Leah Andiema returns alongside seasoned captain Dorcas Shikobe, who missed the last international camp in April due to injury. Their inclusion adds much-needed experience and stability at the back. Phoebe Aketch and Tumaini Waliaula also make their way back into the national team fold after stringing together impressive performances at club level.

The midfield welcomes back Diana Wacera and Martha Amunyolet, who both earned recall through consistent league form, while Corazone Aquino continues to anchor the creative duties in the middle of the park.

A Notable Absence

One name missing from the list is goalkeeper Lilian Awuor, currently based in Romania. The dependable custodian remains unavailable as she navigates a pending work permit application, which prevents her from traveling outside the country at this time.

Eyes on October

Coach Odemba views the Morocco friendly as a valuable opportunity to test the squad’s depth and cohesion ahead of the decisive WAFCON qualifier against Gabon in October. The Starlets are aiming for a return to the continental stage, having last featured in the competition in 2016.
