AFC Leopards 0-1 Sofapaka: Sofapaka takes the day with a 1-0 win

Bad day for AFC Leopards as Sofapaka knocks them down, John Avire scored the only goal minutes to half time to end Leopards two-match undefeated run in the KPL.

Sofapaka striker Umaru Kasumba delivered an inch perfect cross from the right and Avire nodded home in the added minute, to hand sofapaka the lead heading into the break.

Dennis Sikhayi, who replaced suspended Isaac Kipyegon in the starting squad, went into the referee’s book in the 26th minute in a physical first half as both sides tried to win the midfield battle.

Vincent Oburu cut through Sofapaka’s defense but he was a bit sluggish allowing the visitors to clear the half-hour mark danger. Sofapakaalmost punished a napping Ingwe with a counter attack, but Victor Majid did well to save Casa Mbungo’s men, who had blown a chance from a corner-kick.

Sofapaka, however, increased their tempo and after two quick throbbing, Ingwedefense finally caved in to pressure after Avira headed them into the lead in the 45th minute.

Ochieng, who signed a short term deal with the former champions. was given his second debut when he came on for Majid in the 73rd minute and he released Jeffery Awiti with a long cross in his first touch of the ball but Sofapaka quelled the danger.

Ingwe pushed for an equalizer, but Sofapaka stood their ground to snatch the three points, their third straight win since a 2-2 draw with Kakamega Homeboyz at the same venue on February 23.
