Jadon Sancho was on international duty with England when his long awaited transfer to Manchester United was announced.

United confirmed Sancho will undergo a medical when England’s involvement at Euro 2020 is over.

His face said everything. Sancho looked absolutely beaming with delight when snapped by England’s photographers.

Now the negotiations are over, Sancho can feel a little more relaxed and enjoy himself a bit more.

England are into the Euro 2020 quarter-finals and will fly to Rome tomorrow for a quarter-final match with Ukraine.

Sancho has not played a big part so far, but that could change as the competition reaches the latter stages.

Now the weight of the transfer drama is behind him, England boss Gareth Southgate may be more open to selecting him.

From United’s perspective, there should be some indifference. While it would be great to see Sancho play a decisive role in the tournament, it will only increase the pressure on him next season.

It is probably better he gets to rest up, and then heads to United with a real point to prove and chip on his shoulder after being overlooked.

He looked pretty happy yesterday though, and after landing a big new contract at United which The Athletic report will be approximately £250,000 per week, who can blame him for smiling?
