Manchester City Maintain Pressure with 5-1 Win Over Luton Town | English Premier League

Manchester City climbed to the top of the Premier League standings, albeit temporarily, with a commanding victory over struggling Luton Town. City wasted no time taking the lead at Etihad Stadium, as Erling Haaland’s deflected volley off Daiki Hashioka found the back of the net just 65 seconds into the match.

It took City over an hour to extend their advantage, with Mateo Kovacic unleashing a stunning strike from outside the area to make it 2-0.

Haaland then sealed the victory with a penalty after Jeremy Doku was brought down by Fred Onyedinma. Despite a consolation goal from Ross Barkley for Luton Town following a Matheus Nunes error, Doku restored City’s three-goal cushion with a brilliant solo effort.

Doku was instrumental again for City’s fifth goal, setting up Josko Gvardiol who scored with a sensational strike into the top corner, marking his second goal in as many games.

With this result, Manchester City sit two points clear at the top of the table. However, both Liverpool, facing Crystal Palace at home, and Arsenal, hosting Aston Villa, have the opportunity to reclaim the top spot when they play on Sunday.
