Barcelona were crowned LaLiga champions for the 29th time after producing a composed and clinical performance to beat Real Madrid 2-0 in a high-stakes El Clasico at Camp Nou on Sunday night.

With only a point needed to officially secure the title, Hansi Flick’s men wasted little time taking control against their struggling rivals, delivering a first-half masterclass that left the visitors with too much ground to recover.

The breakthrough arrived in the ninth minute when Marcus Rashford produced a stunning free-kick to ignite celebrations inside Camp Nou. The England international curled a magnificent effort over the wall and beyond Thibaut Courtois to hand Barcelona an early advantage.

The goal instantly lifted the atmosphere as the home supporters sensed the title was within touching distance.

Barcelona doubled their lead just nine minutes later through Ferran Torres after an excellent team move sliced open the Madrid defence. Fermin Lopez clipped a clever pass into the area before Dani Olmo brilliantly backheeled the ball into Torres’ path. The striker calmly controlled before rifling his finish beyond Courtois for 2-0.

Real Madrid attempted to respond and came close midway through the first half when Gonzalo Garcia raced through on goal, but his effort struck the outside of the net. Aurelien Tchouameni also threatened with a powerful strike that drifted narrowly wide as Barcelona survived a brief spell of pressure.

Despite Madrid enjoying decent possession, they struggled to consistently break through Barcelona’s disciplined defensive shape. Joan Garcia remained largely untroubled throughout the second half as Flick’s side expertly controlled the contest.

Madrid believed they had found a route back into the game in the 63rd minute when Jude Bellingham finished smartly after Trent Alexander-Arnold’s set-piece delivery caused confusion in the box. However, the celebrations were immediately cut short after the assistant referee flagged for offside during the build-up.

Barcelona nearly added a third goal moments later when Torres burst clear on the counterattack, but Courtois produced an excellent save to deny the Spaniard.

Rashford, making one of his biggest appearances since arriving in Catalonia, received a standing ovation when substituted in the second half after his outstanding display helped drive Barcelona towards the title.

The victory capped a remarkable domestic campaign for Flick’s side, who have dominated at home throughout the season. Barcelona have now won all 18 of their league matches at Camp Nou this season and extended their winning streak in LaLiga to 10 consecutive games.

For Real Madrid, the defeat summed up a frustrating season filled with inconsistency, injuries and internal tension. Missing several key players including Kylian Mbappe and Federico Valverde, Los Blancos never truly looked capable of spoiling Barcelona’s title celebrations.

Barcelona now sit comfortably clear at the top of the table with three matches remaining and can fully enjoy the final weeks of the campaign as newly crowned Spanish champions.
