Bremer Header Gives Juventus Winning Serie A Start

Gleison Bremer scored the decisive goal in the first half, heading home a Francisco Conceicao delivery as Luciano Spalletti’s side controlled much of the contest without managing to turn their superiority into a more comfortable scoreline.

Juventus made the stronger start and immediately pushed Frosinone deep into their own half.

Randal Kolo Muani had the first effort of the match before wasting a much better opportunity in the 20th minute. Bremer flicked on a corner towards the French striker, who was left unmarked inside the six-yard box but sent his effort over the crossbar.

The visitors did not have to wait much longer for the breakthrough.

In the 22nd minute, Conceicao worked a short corner before curling an inviting delivery into the area. Bremer attacked the ball aggressively and powered his header into the net to put Juventus 1-0 ahead.

Juventus continued to threaten after taking the lead.

Pierre Kalulu came close to doubling the advantage shortly before half-time when his shot struck the post after taking a touch from goalkeeper Lorenzo Palmisani. Kenan Yildiz collected the rebound but was denied by another save.

Frosinone also enjoyed a rare opening when Gabriele Bracaglia forced Guglielmo Vicario into action before Giorgi Kvernadze hit the side netting.

The hosts improved after the restart and began committing more players forward, although Juventus remained the more dangerous side.

Conceicao continued to cause problems on the right and missed a good opportunity in the 52nd minute after Kolo Muani and Zeki Celik combined to create space for him inside the area.

Spalletti turned to his bench during the second half, introducing Andrea Cambiaso, Edon Zhegrova and Jeremie Boga before Teun Koopmeiners was also brought on.

Kolo Muani had another opportunity to put the contest beyond Frosinone in the 81st minute when Zhegrova drove a low ball across the six-yard box, but the striker was unable to stretch far enough to make contact.

That miss ensured the contest remained tense into stoppage time.

Frosinone came agonisingly close to an equaliser in the 93rd minute when Gabriele Calvani met Giacomo Calo’s corner with a header that crashed against the crossbar.

Juventus survived the late scare and managed the remaining moments professionally to protect their slender advantage.

The Bianconeri finished the match with an expected-goals total of 1.99 compared to Frosinone’s 0.45, highlighting their overall superiority despite an unconvincing attacking display.

The victory provides an important opening result for Spalletti after a summer of significant squad changes.

New goalkeeper Vicario and Celik were handed starts, while Kolo Muani returned to the club permanently following his previous loan spell.

Frosinone, meanwhile, were left without a point on their return to Serie A after earning promotion by finishing second in Serie B.

Juventus will next host Parma, while Frosinone travel to face Fiorentina.
