Juventus struck twice in the final stages to overcome stubborn Pisa 2-0, while Cagliari produced a spirited comeback to beat Torino 2-1 in a dramatic Serie A Round 17 night.

Juventus closed out their Serie A calendar year with a hard earned 2-0 victory away to Pisa, finally breaking down a resolute home side with two late goals at the Arena Garibaldi.

For long spells, the Bianconeri laboured to assert themselves against a disciplined Pisa outfit that defended deep and looked dangerous on set pieces. Despite enjoying more of the ball, Juventus struggled to convert pressure into clear chances in the first half. Pisa, meanwhile, came agonisingly close to taking the lead when Stefano Moreo’s powerful header rattled the crossbar just before the interval.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Juventus probing and Pisa threatening on the counter. Matteo Tramoni later struck the post with a well directed header, underlining how close the hosts were to causing a major upset. As frustration grew, it seemed Pisa might cling on for a valuable point.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 73rd minute. Weston McKennie delivered a low cross across the face of goal, and under pressure, Arturo Calabresi bundled the ball into his own net to hand Juventus the lead. The goal knocked the wind out of Pisa, who had defended bravely for much of the contest.

Pisa pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but that only left space at the back. Deep into stoppage time, Juventus sealed the result on the counter attack. Jonathan David played a key role before Kenan Yildiz kept his composure to slot home from a tight angle, confirming a 2-0 win that lifts Juventus into third place ahead of their next outing against Lecce.

Earlier in the evening, drama also unfolded at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, where Cagliari stunned Torino with a 2-1 away victory.

Torino started brightly and were rewarded in the 28th minute when Nikola Vlasic finished a swift move to give the hosts the lead. Cagliari responded with increased urgency and drew level just before half time, as Matteo Prati reacted quickest from a corner to poke the ball home.

The second half was evenly contested, with Torino pushing for a winner and Cagliari looking dangerous on the break. The decisive moment arrived in the 66th minute when Semih Kilicsoy struck from distance, his low effort beating the goalkeeper to complete a fine comeback for the visitors.

Despite late pressure from Torino, including a flurry of crosses and set pieces, Cagliari held firm to claim all three points. The result provides a significant boost for Cagliari as they look to climb the table, while Torino are left to reflect on missed opportunities.

Serie A Round 17 delivered late drama, costly mistakes, and decisive moments, with Juventus showing patience and quality when it mattered most, and Cagliari underlining their fighting spirit on the road.
