CAS Sets Date for Senegal's AFCON Appeal.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has ruled that their appeal from the highly controversial decision by the Confederation of African Football to remove them from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, which Senegal is protesting, is to be heard on October 8.

The Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) is calling for CAF's verdict to be overturned on March 25 and Senegal to be officially declared champions of Africa for 2025.

The disagreement is because the AFCON was played in RABAT on January 18.
A Pape Gueye goal in extra-time gave Senegal a 1-0 lead. But it all went out of hand at the end of normal time as Morocco earned a penalty in a goalless draw.
Some Senegal players walked down from the pitch and other fans tried entering the playing area in protest to this action. The match was held up for nearly 20 minutes while the situation was disrupted then it was resumed.
CAF Reversed the Result
It was in March that CAF decided that Senegal had defaulted and that Morocco would secure the AFCON crown with a 3-0 win.
CAS is appealing against both CAF and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), the statement said.
The governing body agreed that Senegal wanted to appeal the disciplinary decision to CAF and the decision of the final match, as the team wanted to reverse this action.

The October 8th proceedings will be dedicated to Senegal's request to be declared the winners of the AFCON 2025, CAS said.
But the arbitrating body said that it wouldn't declare the verdict on the hearing day.
Rather, the panel will engage in deliberation following its review of the evidence and make a written decision at a later time.
The possibility of the outcome of this appeal will decide what will happen to Morocco's title of the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025 or whether Senegal's original title is reaffirmed.
