Gor Mahia claimed all three points in their 100th league meeting with Tusker after a seventh-minute own goal proved decisive in a tightly contested match at Kasarani.

Gor Mahia extended their lead at the top of the FKF Premier League after defeating Tusker 1–0 in their historic 100th league encounter at Kasarani Stadium, courtesy of an unfortunate early own goal.

The decisive moment came in the seventh minute when Tusker defender Collins Odhiambo attempted a back pass to goalkeeper Brian Opondo. The ball rolled awkwardly, catching the Harambee Stars shot-stopper off guard and ending up in the back of the net. The mishap left Tusker chasing the game and marked their second consecutive league defeat.

After the early setback, Gor Mahia controlled much of the first half. Austine Odhiambo came close to doubling the lead shortly before the break with a powerful long-range effort that missed by mere inches.

Tusker slowly grew into the match, creating several opportunities of their own. Denis Oalo forced the Gor keeper into a strong save after a drive into the box around the half-hour mark. Moments before halftime, Cliff Oruko saw a promising shot blocked, and Vincent pulled the trigger from distance, testing the goalkeeper with a difficult low effort.

The second half saw Tusker coach Charles Okere make triple changes, introducing Erick Kapaito, Curtis Wekesa, and Yakeen Mutheli to inject fresh energy into the attack. However, both teams struggled to break each other down in the final third as the match wore on.

Gor Mahia refreshed their midfield with the introductions of Fidel Origa and Ebenezer Adu-Kwaw, helping them regain composure and maintain control in key phases.

Despite Tusker’s attempts to level the match, the game fizzled out in the closing stages, with few clear-cut chances created. Gor Mahia held firm to preserve the narrow lead and secure all three points.

The victory stretches Gor Mahia’s gap at the top of the table to 19 points, while Tusker remain seventh with 12 points as their struggles continue.
