Mombasa United bounced back with a commanding 2–0 victory over Equity FC at Mbaraki Stadium, with Denis Toeri and Nehemiah Onchiri securing the points in the National Super League clash.

Mombasa United FC returned to winning form in the National Super League after securing a confident 2–0 victory over Equity FC at Mbaraki Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The result comes just a week after their 2–0 away defeat to Kisumu All Stars, marking a strong response from Gilbert Selebwa’s side.

Mombasa United began the match with intent, dominating early possession and fashioning the first clear opportunities. In the 16th minute, Steve Nyagor unleashed a stunning 40-yard effort that forced Equity goalkeeper Michael Onyango to tip the ball out for a corner. Moments later, Answer Shamuni tested the keeper again, but Onyango remained alert to gather the shot.

Equity’s first real chance arrived in the 24th minute when Abdi Daikeza’s effort was saved by Mombasa United goalkeeper Richard Bancha. Two minutes later, the visitors wasted a golden opportunity as defender Benard Lusi failed to convert a near tap-in from a corner.

The breakthrough for the hosts finally came in the 35th minute after Fidel Omondi was brought down inside the box. Denis Toeri stepped up and converted the penalty with confidence, giving Mombasa United a deserved lead.

Four minutes into the second half, substitute Nehemiah Onchiri doubled the advantage after cutting through the Equity defense and firing a low effort into the bottom corner, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance.

Equity came close in the 63rd minute when Abdi’s curling shot flew just wide, but that was as near as they came. Mombasa United tightened their defensive shape and comfortably saw out the remaining minutes to secure a clean sheet and all three points.
