FKF Hands Mombasa United Forfeit Win After NSL No-Show
- Mombasa United FC have been awarded three points and two goals by the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee following the abandonment of their National Super League clash against Gucha Stars.
Mombasa United FC have been officially awarded victory in their National Super League fixture against Gucha Stars FC after the match failed to kick off as scheduled in December.
In a decision communicated by the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee, the abandoned NSL Match No.142, which was due to be played on December 20, was resolved in favour of Mombasa United following a formal hearing.
According to the determination dated January 22, the committee reviewed match officials reports, submissions from the concerned parties, and all documentation presented before arriving at its ruling.
The committee resolved that Mombasa United be awarded the match on a three-point and two-goal basis, in line with Rule 21.1 of the FKF Rules and Regulations governing match forfeits and abandonment.
The hearing into the matter was conducted on January 21, after the fixture failed to take place on the original date, prompting the issue to be escalated for deliberation.
The ruling provides a significant boost to Mombasa United in the National Super League standings, with the awarded points potentially influencing the promotion race as the season progresses.
The FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee further noted that a detailed report outlining the reasons behind the decision will be issued within 21 days upon request.
The decision brings closure to a case that had lingered since the failed fixture, allowing the league to move forward with clarity on the outcome of the contested match.
