The Kenya National football team, Harambee Stars, has on Monday, March 25, 2019, jetted back into the country from Ghana where the team was involved in an Africa Cup of Nations Qualifier.
Kenya lost 1-0 to Ghana courtesy of a second-half strike by Caleb Ekuban, a result that saw the hosts end their qualification campaign top of the table with nine points.
Despite having already qualified for AFCON, coach Sébastien Migné expressed his disappointment with the result but noted that preparations for AFCON are underway.
“Of course I am disappointed. We were so close to getting a big result against a top opponent but we, unfortunately, couldn’t hold on for the final minutes,” said coach Migné.
Harambee Stars will take part in a three-week camp in France in May as a pre-cursor to the continental showpiece. The team will then head to Egypt for the tourney, their first in 15 years.
