Inter Stay Top With Professional Win Over Parma

Inter tightened their grip on top spot in Serie A with a controlled 2-0 victory away to Parma, overcoming stubborn resistance before late drama finally settled the contest at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

Inter maintained their position at the summit of Serie A after securing a composed 2-0 win over Parma, a result that reflected their dominance even if the scoreline only pulled clear in stoppage time.

The visitors asserted control from the opening minutes, pinning Parma deep and circulating possession with confidence. Their first clear chance arrived when Yann Bisseck stepped out from defence and unleashed a powerful effort that forced Edoardo Corvi into a sharp save, tipping the ball onto the crossbar.

Parma, struggling to escape their own half, almost stole the lead against the run of play midway through the first half. A swift break down the left ended with Jacob Ondrejka meeting Emanuele Valeri’s cross first time, only to see his fierce strike crash against the woodwork, providing a warning Inter could not ignore.

Inter eventually found the breakthrough in the 42nd minute. Federico Dimarco timed his run perfectly to receive a pass from Francesco Pio Esposito and finished confidently from a tight angle. Although the flag initially went up for offside, VAR intervened to confirm the goal, sending Inter into the interval with a deserved lead.

The pattern remained unchanged after the restart, with Inter monopolising possession and probing patiently. They should have doubled their advantage when Petar Sucic burst clean through on goal, but the midfielder dragged his effort wide with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Parma offered little going forward, yet Inter’s failure to convert their chances kept the contest alive until deep into stoppage time. Substitute Ange-Yoan Bonny appeared to have sealed the win against his former club, but VAR again intervened to rule out the goal for a handball by Marcus Thuram in the build-up.

Moments later, Thuram redeemed himself in emphatic fashion. Nicolo Barella lifted a precise long ball over the Parma defence, and the French forward showed great composure to chip Corvi and make it 2-0 in the 98th minute, finally putting the result beyond doubt.

Inter finished the night with a commanding 2.38 expected goals compared to Parma’s 0.32, underlining their superiority. The win keeps them four points clear at the top ahead of a looming title-defining clash with Napoli, while Parma turn their focus to a crucial trip to Lecce as they continue their fight for stability.
