Kenya Police FC Stand One Point Away from Historic League Title

Kenya Police FC are on the cusp of history. After edging Talanta FC 1-0 and watching Gor Mahia drop points against AFC Leopards, the law enforcers now need just one point from their final two matches to lift their first-ever FKF Premier League title. The dream is within reach and only Shabana FC and Gor Mahia stand in their way.

Kenya Police FC are now just one point away from clinching their maiden FKF Premier League title, following a dramatic weekend where their closest rivals, Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards, played out a 1-1 draw, dropping crucial points in the title chase.

Police FC had earlier done their part, grinding out a 1-0 win over Talanta FC on May 18. David Simiyu’s 15th-minute goal proved decisive in a tight encounter that showcased the law enforcers’ growing maturity and composure under pressure. The win took them to 61 points after 32 matches, creating a six-point gap at the top of the table.

That result meant Gor Mahia needed a victory against Leopards to stay within striking distance. Instead, the two giants cancelled each other out in a fiercely contested derby, further easing the path for Police FC, who now need just one point from their remaining two matches to secure the league crown.

Their next assignment comes on June 11 against Shabana FC, a side still pushing for a strong finish. But the focus will be on Police FC, who know a draw will be enough to seal the title before facing Gor Mahia in what could become a ceremonial finale rather than a decider.

This season has seen Kenya Police rise from perennial mid-table contenders to the brink of greatness. With 17 wins, 10 draws, and just 5 losses, they’ve built their campaign on defensive steel conceding just 16 goals in 32 games, the best record in the division.

Should they avoid defeat against Shabana, the long wait for a first league title will be over — a landmark moment in the club’s history, and a potential shift in the balance of Kenyan football power.

The title is now within touching distance. Kenya Police just need one more solid performance to finish the job.
