AFC Leopards continued their winning momentum, securing a 1-0 victory against Bandari in a highly anticipated FKF Premier League clash on Sunday afternoon.
Following their impressive 3-1 triumph over FC Compel at the same venue a week prior, Ingwe displayed dominance from the outset. The breakthrough came in the first half courtesy of a goal by Clifton Miheso, sending the home crowd into jubilation.
Early in the match, Victor Otieno created a golden opportunity, exploiting a gap in Bandari's defense, only to be thwarted by a last-ditch clearance from defender Meja Atariza.
Despite Leopards' persistent pressure, Kennedy Owino missed a chance to extend the lead, heading wide in the 28th minute. Meanwhile, Bandari relied on counter-attacks, targeting winger James Kinyanjui for opportunities, but Umar Kasumba failed to convert a promising chance from his cross.
The decisive moment arrived when Otieno delivered a dangerous cross from the left flank, flicked back by Jaffari Owiti to Miheso, who clinically finished to give Ingwe the lead just before halftime.
In the second half, AFC Leopards continued to dictate the tempo, with Kayci Odhiambo squandering a clear chance to double the lead. However, Bandari rallied, creating opportunities of their own, with Atariza narrowly missing the target from a corner routine.
As the game progressed, both teams struggled to break through, resulting in a stalemate in the latter stages. Substitute Victor Omune had a chance to seal the win for Ingwe but was denied by Bandari's goalkeeper Byrne Omondi in the dying minutes.
With this victory, AFC Leopards climbed to sixth place with 41 points, while Bandari sits fifth with 45 points, reflecting the intensity of competition in the FKF Premier League.
