Wolverhampton Wanderers have parted ways with head coach Pereira following a string of poor results that left the club rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table. The Portuguese manager departs less than a year after signing a new three-year contract.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have dismissed head coach Pereira after a 3–0 defeat to Fulham on Saturday marked their eighth loss of the Premier League campaign. The result leaves Wolves bottom of the table, eight points adrift of safety.

Pereira, who took over in December 2024 and signed a new three-year contract in September, had come under mounting pressure in recent weeks. Discontent among supporters reached a boiling point following last week’s 3–2 home defeat to Burnley, where Pereira was escorted away from heated post-match exchanges with fans at Molineux.

Despite flashes of promise in cup competitions including wins over West Ham and Everton in the Carabao Cup Wolves’ inconsistency proved costly. Their run ended in the last 16 against Chelsea on Wednesday.

Pereira originally replaced Gary O’Neil when the club sat 19th last season and steered them to 16th place, securing top-flight survival. However, a difficult summer transfer window undermined his efforts this term. Wolves lost several key players, including Matheus Cunha to Manchester United for £62.5m, Rayan Aït-Nouri to Manchester City for £31m, and captain Nelson Semedo, who joined Fenerbahçe on a free transfer.

Further instability arose from speculation surrounding Norway striker Jørgen Strand Larsen, whose uncertain future added to the early-season turmoil. Pereira brought in five new signings over the summer but struggled to integrate them as Wolves’ form continued to slide.

The club is now expected to begin its search for a new manager immediately, with hopes of stabilizing their season before it’s too late..
