Sofapaka consolidated their lead at the summit of the Kenyan Premier League following a 3-1 win over a struggling Mount Kenya United.

Batoto Ba Mungu took full advantage of the early kick-off fixture to open a four-point gap at the top with a massive victory over a ten-man side.

Wednesday’s defeat confined a poor Mount Kenya United to the basement of the table with just 12 points from 19 matches.

Coach Melis Medo was hoping to carry on from a 1-0 win over Vihiga United last time out and perhaps pick his maiden victory over his former side, but that did not come to pass as Stephen Waruru and Michael Oduor both registered their names on the score sheet at the Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos.

Timonah Wanyonyi canceled Waruru’s 5th minute lead for Sofapaka but Oduor scored two quick goals within a span of three minutes (62nd and  65th) to help Batoto Ba Mungu take their tally of points to 36 after ten wins.

With Medo having exhausted his substitution, substitute Brain Nyakan was forced to change uniforms when he took the gloves from Odhiambo and he surprisingly did well despite Sofapaka dominating the last few minutes. Article from Goal.com
