Since the outbreak of war in April 2023, all football-related activities in Sudan have been suspended, resulting in the cancellation of both the last season and the current one of the Sudanese Premier League.

Consequently, several Sudanese clubs have applied to join leagues in neighboring countries, with Al-Hilal, the nation’s largest club, seeking entry into the Tanzanian Premier League.

Al-Hilal announced that the Tanzanian Football Federation has granted preliminary approval, subject to the adaptation of rules and regulations.

Reports indicate that Al-Hilal will participate in league matches but will not be eligible to contend for the title or continental slots and their matches will be considered friendlies.

Notably, Al-Hilal utilized the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam as their home venue during the recent CAF Champions League campaign, though they were eliminated in the group stages.
