Paris Saint-Germain capped a historic season with a dramatic 2-1 victory over Lyon in the French Cup final, securing a domestic treble in Kylian Mbappe’s emotional farewell match.

Despite failing to find the net himself, Mbappe leaves the club a legend, etching his name even deeper into PSG lore with a staggering 256 goals in 308 appearances over seven remarkable seasons.

Dominant First Half Secures Treble

Ligue 1 and French Super Cup champions, PSG dominated the first half at Stade Pierre-Mauroy in Lille. Ousmane Dembele opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, heading home from close range after Nuno Mendes’ perfect cross. Fabian Ruiz doubled the lead shortly after with a well-placed shot from a tight angle.

Lyon Threaten Comeback, But PSG Hold Firm

Lyon rallied in the second half, pulling one back through Jake O’Brien’s powerful header from a corner. Gianluigi Donnarumma, however, stood firm in the PSG goal, denying Lyon an equalizer with a crucial save moments later.

Mbappe Reflects on a Magnificent Journey

In a post-match interview filled with emotion, Mbappe spoke about his departure. “Saying goodbye is hard,” he admitted. “The experiences here are irreplaceable. It’s been a wonderful evening, and a wonderful season.”

Mbappe expressed his hope that young players will continue to be inspired by PSG. “We’ve tried to get people excited, to give young people the chance to play for this club. I hope that more youngsters will want to make their mark here,” he concluded.
