APS Bomet Edge Ulinzi Stars To Boost Survival Hopes In Tight Clash

APS Bomet secured a crucial 1-0 victory over Ulinzi Stars to strengthen their fight against relegation in a tense FKF Premier League encounter.

APS Bomet kept their survival hopes alive with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ulinzi Stars in a tightly contested FKF Premier League clash at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.

The Administration Police side came into the match under pressure after a poor run of results had dragged them into the relegation battle, but they showed resilience and tactical discipline to grind out a vital victory.

Ulinzi Stars started the match on the front foot, dominating the early exchanges and creating several promising chances. Hansel Ochieng came close with a header in the opening minutes before missing another opportunity shortly after, as the hosts looked the more likely side to take the lead.

Despite Ulinzi’s early pressure, APS Bomet remained organised and patient, waiting for their opportunity to strike. That moment arrived just before halftime when Anthony Naibei ended his goal drought with a well-taken finish in first-half stoppage time, giving the visitors a crucial advantage heading into the break.

In the second half, APS Bomet adopted a more defensive approach, dropping into a compact shape to protect their lead. Coach Sammy ‘Pamzo’ Omollo’s tactical adjustment proved effective as they limited Ulinzi Stars’ attacking threat.

Ulinzi continued to push for an equaliser, with Boniface Muchiri delivering a dangerous free-kick that found Paul Okoth, but APS goalkeeper Maxwell Mulili produced an excellent save to deny the hosts.

Mulili was called into action again late in the match, making another crucial stop deep into stoppage time to preserve the clean sheet and secure all three points for APS Bomet.

The victory lifts APS Bomet to 25 points, drawing them level with Ulinzi Stars and potentially moving them out of the relegation zone depending on other results.

For Ulinzi Stars, the defeat is a setback in their attempt to steer clear of danger, as missed chances ultimately proved costly in a match they largely controlled.

With the relegation battle intensifying, APS Bomet’s win could prove pivotal in their quest to retain top-flight status, while Ulinzi Stars will need to respond quickly to avoid being dragged deeper into the fight.
