Record Kenyan champions Gor Mahia were forced to settle for a 0-0 draw against Kariobangi Sharks in a tense FKF Premier League encounter, dropping valuable points in the title race.

K’Ogalo came into the match looking to maintain their advantage at the top of the table, but a combination of missed chances and disciplined defending from the Sharks denied them a breakthrough.

Gor Mahia started brightly and should have taken the lead early on when Shariff Musa’s pace unlocked the Sharks defence. His delivery found Samuel Kapen in a promising position, but the winger failed to convert with only the goalkeeper to beat.

The visitors responded with intent, as Kariobangi Sharks created chances of their own. Zablon Kutela forced a sharp save from Gor Mahia goalkeeper Gad Mathews, while David Majak squandered a golden opportunity after finding himself in space but failing to hit the target.

The match remained finely balanced, with both sides exchanging attacks. Ebenezer Adukwaw came close for Gor Mahia from a set-piece, while the Sharks threatened through quick transitions involving Humphrey Aroko and Keagan Ndemi.

Goalkeeping proved decisive on both ends. Gad Mathews was called into action multiple times to deny the Sharks, while Sebastian Wekesa stood firm to keep out Gor Mahia’s attacking efforts, ensuring the first half ended goalless.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with both teams struggling to convert promising build-up play into goals. Gor Mahia introduced Ebenezer Assifuah in search of a breakthrough, and he nearly made an instant impact, forcing a save from Wekesa before Jackson Dwang fired the rebound into the side netting.

Despite sustained pressure from the hosts late in the game, Kariobangi Sharks held their shape defensively and managed to secure a valuable point on the road.

The result leaves Gor Mahia top of the table with 57 points, though their lead is now under threat as rivals look to close the gap in the closing stages of the season.

For Kariobangi Sharks, the draw lifts them further away from the relegation zone, underlining their resilience in a crucial phase of the campaign.

Elsewhere, APS Bomet secured a vital 1-0 win over Ulinzi Stars, with Anthony Naibei scoring the decisive goal, while Kakamega Homeboyz strengthened their push in the top positions with a commanding 3-0 victory over Mathare United.

With the title race tightening and the relegation battle intensifying, the FKF Premier League continues to deliver high-stakes drama across the board.
