Gucha Stars’ Promotion Nullified Over Player Eligibility Scandal

Gucha Stars’ dream promotion to the National Super League has been crushed after a bizarre case of player impersonation rocked the club’s crucial match against Nakuru Bucks FC.

In a dramatic twist that’s left the Kenyan football community buzzing, Gucha Stars FC’s promotion to the National Super League has been officially nullified. This comes after it was determined that the club fielded an ineligible player during their critical match against Nakuru Bucks FC a match that essentially secured their promotion.

What’s caused even more uproar is the nature of the breach. According to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Leagues and Competitions Committee, an individual named Dildad Marube impersonated player Eugene Nyagaka during the match, using falsified documents. The committee ruled that this act was a clear violation of Article 6.2.11 of FKF’s Rules and Regulations, which prohibits the submission of false documents during player registration.

The controversy didn’t stop there. The protest against Gucha Stars was lodged over three weeks after the match a surprising delay that appears to conflict with FKF’s own regulations on timely filing of complaints. Adding to the drama, Nakuru Bucks FC, the team supposedly wronged in this matter, publicly distanced itself from the protest. Club management stated that the individual who submitted the complaint did so without any authorization from Nakuru Bucks FC.

In its ruling, the FKF Committee directed that Gucha Stars FC forfeit the match in question and confirmed a one-year suspension for Dildad Marube for impersonation and document tampering.

This case has sparked conversations about governance, integrity, and the enforcement of rules within Kenyan football. Many fans and stakeholders are now calling for stricter oversight and timely enforcement to preserve the spirit of fair play in the leagues.

The football fraternity will be closely watching FKF’s next moves as it seeks to restore trust and order in the wake of this scandal.
