Lewandowski's inspiration led Barcelona to a 3-0 victory at Atletico Madrid on Sunday, maintaining their faint La Liga title hopes. He orchestrated goals for Joao Felix and Fermin Lopez, while also finding the net himself, propelling Barcelona into second place, trailing leaders Real Madrid by eight points.

Additionally, the Catalans, marking their return to the Champions League quarter-finals after four years, became the first team to defeat Atletico at the Metropolitano stadium this season.

Barcelona was also the last team to triumph at Atletico in the top flight, achieving this feat in January 2023, breaking a streak of 25 undefeated matches for Diego Simeone's team. However, they succumbed to Xavi Hernandez's side, who have now secured five consecutive victories over Atletico and remain unbeaten in 10 matches since the coach announced his departure at the end of the season.

With this win, Barcelona surged two points ahead of third-placed Girona, while Atletico now finds themselves in fifth position, having been surpassed by Athletic Bilbao on Saturday.
