Barcelona have reportedly signed forward Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund for €29m ($33m), with possible add-ons.

The Spanish giants confirmed the move on Thursday and the 24-year-old agreed to a five-year deal running from the 1st June 2018 until the 30th June 2031.

Barcelona sent out a statement saying that “the transfer of Adeyemi to Barcelona will be effective from 1 July, with the transfer notice remaining in force till the end of June 2031”.

Newcastle United's international Anthony Gordon is the second signing of the transfer window for Adeyemi, having joined from the British League champions last season. The England international has joined on Tuesday as the second player to arrive on a transfer from Newcastle United this season, following Adeyemi who signed from the British League champions last season.

Barcelona add pace to attack

Germany international will be able to play in a centre-forward or on either wing, which will give Hansi Flick some attacking freedom.

Adeyemi is the one who is known to possess pace and arrives at a time when Barcelona are looking to relook their attacking line after the departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski.

The club also saw a drop in attacking quality when Marcus Rashford's loan move was terminated from Manchester United and Flick is now looking for other options.

Barcelona are also said to have been interested in Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez, who they have been the leading bidder on this summer's transfer market.

Adeyemi meets up with Flick again.

Flick had previously given his senior Germany debut to Adeyemi in 2021 and will now be clubbing the forward.

Adeyemi signed for Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022 and has netted 36 goals in 146 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga side in his four seasons with them.

Barcelona are set to defend their national title and his speed and ability to cover the front line with versatility are expected to provide them with another dimension.
