Real Madrid produced a commanding display at the Santiago Bernabeu, sweeping aside Valencia 4-0 to tighten their grip on the LaLiga summit. Xabi Alonso’s men were in complete control from start to finish, and the match was effectively settled before the interval.
Kylian Mbappé opened the scoring from the penalty spot after a handball was confirmed by VAR, confidently sending Julen Agirrezabala the wrong way. The French forward soon doubled Madrid’s advantage with a precise volley from Arda Güler’s exquisite cross a goal that summed up the hosts’ clinical edge and attacking fluency.
Vinícius Junior had the chance to add a third from another spot-kick but was denied by a superb save from Agirrezabala. Moments later, however, Jude Bellingham curled home a wonderful effort from the edge of the box to make it 3-0, following a neat exchange with Federico Valverde.
The visitors, led by Carlos Corberan, were largely pinned back and struggled to cope with Madrid’s relentless pressure.
In the second half, the tempo eased, but the home side continued to dictate proceedings. Full-back Álvaro Carreras capped a memorable evening with a thunderous strike into the top corner to make it 4-0, sealing a statement victory.
Valencia nearly found a late consolation when substitute Javi Guerra’s curling effort struck the inside of the post, but it wasn’t to be.
For Alonso, this was a dream performance: disciplined at the back, ruthless in attack, and brimming with confidence ahead of a crucial Champions League trip to Liverpool next week. Valencia, meanwhile, remain in 18th place and will hope to bounce back at home to Real Betis.
The night once again belonged to Mbappé and Bellingham Madrid’s new heartbeat as Los Blancos continue to set the standard in Spain.
