Napoli were frustrated at home after being held to a goalless draw by Eintracht Frankfurt in a tight Champions League encounter in Naples. The hosts created plenty of chances but found Frankfurt goalkeeper Michael Zetterer in superb form throughout.
Eljif Elmas came closest early on, forcing a strong save in the 14th minute, while Andre-Frank Anguissa and Scott McTominay both missed golden opportunities to put the hosts ahead in the second half. Substitute Rasmus Hojlund also saw a late effort denied in stoppage time as Napoli piled forward in search of a winner.
Frankfurt had their best moment when Ansgar Knauff’s close-range strike was stopped brilliantly by Milinkovic-Savic midway through the second half. The visitors offered limited attacking threat but remained compact and disciplined to secure a hard-fought point.
Napoli registered 18 shots but failed to convert any of their openings, while Frankfurt managed just seven shots. The draw leaves Frankfurt in 18th place and Napoli one spot below in the Champions League league-phase standings.
Conte’s men will next face Qarabag on matchday five, while Dino Toppmöller’s Frankfurt host Atalanta in their upcoming fixture.
