Napoli reignited their Scudetto defence with a commanding 3–1 victory over Inter Milan, halting the visitors’ seven-game winning streak and reclaiming the Serie A summit in front of a roaring home crowd.
Kevin De Bruyne opened the scoring midway through the first half from the penalty spot after Giovanni Di Lorenzo was brought down by Henrikh Mkhitaryan. The Belgian’s composed finish put Napoli in control, though he was forced off soon after with an apparent injury.
Inter responded with intensity, striking the woodwork twice through Denzel Dumfries and Alessandro Bastoni, but the hosts held firm. After the break, Scott McTominay doubled Napoli’s lead, racing onto a long pass from Leonardo Spinazzola before smashing home a precise finish.
Hakan Calhanoglu gave Inter hope from the penalty spot following a handball review, but Napoli’s resilience prevailed. Zambo Anguissa sealed the win in spectacular fashion, bursting past three defenders before firing beyond Yann Sommer to make it 3–1.
Despite Inter’s higher expected goals (1.88 to Napoli’s 1.25), Antonio Conte’s men were sharper and more clinical when it mattered. The result not only ends Napoli’s brief slump but also restores their position atop the Serie A table.
Napoli now prepare for a midweek trip to Lecce, while Inter will look to bounce back when they host Fiorentina at San Siro.
