Bandari FC missed the opportunity to secure maximum points for the second consecutive match despite playing at their home ground, Mombasa Sports Club. The team struggled to capitalize on their home support against visiting KCB, resulting in a goalless draw.
The match began with Bandari showing promise early on. In the second minute, Shassiri Nahimana connected with a pass from Barisa Mohammed but failed to find the target. Fifteen minutes later, Shassiri had another chance in the six-yard box but his shot sailed over the crossbar. Despite winning five corner kicks within the first 29 minutes, Bandari failed to convert any into goals.
KCB started to threaten as the game progressed. At the half-hour mark, Derrick Otanga’s header was comfortably saved by Bandari goalkeeper Bryne Omondi, marking KCB’s first shot on target.
After halftime, KCB came out stronger. Philomen Nyakwaka almost scored from a Herit Atariza corner kick, but his flick narrowly missed the target. Derrick Otieno also posed a threat with a powerful shot that narrowly went wide of the goal.
In a bid to break the deadlock, Bandari introduced Umar Kasumba, David Sakwa, and youngstar William Gitama, but their efforts were in vain as both teams settled for a goalless draw.
KCB’s head coach, Benard Mwalala, praised his players for denying Bandari FC scoring opportunities and noted their improved performance in the second half, aiming to secure maximum points.
