Arsenal are ready to swoop for Ander Herrera when his Manchester United contract expires at the end of the season, according to reports.

Herrera has been linked with a free transfer to Paris Saint-Germain after negotiations with the Red Devils over a new deal, which got underway 18 months ago, hit a roadblock.

The Spaniard is reportedly keen on staying at Old Trafford but is unhappy that the club have allowed talks to drag on the way they have.

Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring the midfielder's situation ahead of making a move for Herrera in June, and have plans to offer the 29-year-old more money than United.

PSG see Herrera as the perfect partner for Marco Verratti in the middle of the park as he would allow the Italian more freedom to go forward.

But according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are also keeping tabs on Herrera.

The Gunners are set to lose Aaron Ramsey on a free in the same month Herrera's contract expires, after the Wales international agreed terms with Juventus.

Arsenal have been linked with a number of other midfielders in recent months though, including Franck Kessie, Adrien Rabiot and Nicolo Barella.

Herrera addressed the recent speculation regarding his future in the press.

The Man United star said:

I do not concern myself with what will happen in four months, so I do not know if my time here is over.

It's logical when you've got three months left on your contact and there is an international break. I knew something would come out.

I take it as normal. I focus on playing football in the month-and-a-half that remains (of the season). The rest is left to my agent, both the possible renewal with United and any talks with another club for my departure.

I enjoy playing for the biggest club in England. The fans love me, they have treated me phenomenally and my duty is to listen to them - although I honestly do not know what is going to happen.

What I see myself is trying to win at Watford next week. If you deserve rewards and if you are an honest and hard-working person, they arrive.
