Bayern Run Riot as Wolfsburg Are Blown Away at the Allianz

Bayern Munich delivered a ruthless second-half masterclass to crush Wolfsburg 8-1, tightening their grip on the Bundesliga summit with a statement win in Munich.

Bayern Munich reminded the rest of Germany why the Bundesliga title still runs through Bavaria after demolishing Wolfsburg 8-1 at the Allianz Arena on Sunday night. It was a performance that mixed early patience with brutal efficiency, as Vincent Kompany’s side stretched their lead at the top and reasserted their domestic authority.

The hosts struck first inside five minutes when sustained pressure forced Kilian Fischer into an unfortunate own goal. Wolfsburg briefly showed some fight, however, and were rewarded in the 13th minute as Dzenan Pejcinovic continued his fine scoring run with a calm finish past Manuel Neuer to level the match.

That moment of resistance did not last long. Bayern regained control on the half-hour mark when Michael Olise bent in a teasing cross that Luis Diaz nodded home, restoring the home side’s lead and sending them into the break 2-1 ahead.

If the first half offered Wolfsburg a glimmer of hope, the second was a nightmare. Bayern emerged from the interval in devastating mood, with Olise cutting inside to curl a beautiful effort into the corner just five minutes after the restart. From there, the floodgates opened.

A desperate attempt to stop another Bayern attack saw Moritz Jenz turn the ball into his own net, before Raphaël Guerreiro swept home a neat finish following Harry Kane’s unselfish assist. Kane then took centre stage himself, smashing a sensational strike off the underside of the crossbar for his 20th Bundesliga goal of the season.

Olise completed his brace in the 76th minute after slick link-up play with Diaz, capping a superb all-round display that also included an assist. The punishment was not yet complete, as substitute Leon Goretzka poked in Bayern’s eighth late on, a goal that summed up Wolfsburg’s total collapse.

Despite Pejcinovic’s early impact, Wolfsburg were overwhelmed by Bayern’s relentless attacking waves and sharp movement. The champions finished the night well above their expected goals, underlining just how clinical they were once the tempo increased.

The emphatic victory restores Bayern’s commanding advantage at the top of the table and sends a clear message to their title rivals. For Wolfsburg, the heavy defeat deepens an already difficult campaign and leaves serious questions heading into the next round.
