FKF Engages Women Premier League Clubs On Growth Strategy
- The Football Kenya Federation has intensified efforts to strengthen women’s football after holding key talks with FKF Women Premier League clubs on challenges and long-term development strategies.
The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has reaffirmed its commitment to the growth of women’s football following a consultative meeting with FKF Women Premier League clubs.
The meeting brought together league stakeholders to discuss the unique challenges facing women’s football in Kenya, with a focus on creating practical and sustainable solutions.
FKF leadership engaged club representatives in detailed discussions aimed at identifying structural gaps, financial constraints and operational hurdles that continue to limit the full potential of the women’s game.
The federation noted that collaboration between FKF and clubs will be central to unlocking growth, with both sides agreeing on the need for a unified approach moving forward.
Among the key areas discussed were funding models, player welfare, league organisation and visibility of the women’s game across the country.
FKF emphasised that it will maintain continuous engagement with clubs to ensure that policies and initiatives are aligned with the realities on the ground.
The federation also pointed to existing structures such as the FKF Women’s Desk and the FKF Women’s Committee as key pillars in driving reforms and supporting the development of the sport.
These bodies are expected to play a central role in implementing strategies that promote competitiveness, professionalism and sustainability within the women’s league.
FKF acknowledged that women’s football in Kenya holds significant untapped potential, noting that deliberate and consistent action will be required to translate that promise into tangible progress.
The federation added that its long-term objective is to create a thriving ecosystem where players, clubs and stakeholders can operate in a stable and supportive environment.
The engagement marks another step in FKF’s broader strategy to elevate women’s football and position it as a key pillar of the sport’s growth in Kenya.
