Real Madrid legend, Zinedine Zidane has recently returned to the Bernabéu to help resurrect Madrid’s season. After crashing out of the title race earlier this year, Madrid’s hopes turned towards the Champions League.

But that didn’t go well for them either, and ultimately concludes what has been a miserable season for the current Champions of Europe.

Zidane is expected to spend big in the summer following Cristiano Ronaldo’s exit to Italy.

Reports have emerged linking the new Chelsea keeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga to the Spanish giants, according to The Metro.

Madrid have a collection of three different keepers they have used in the league this season: Keylor Navas and Luca Zidane being two of them, as well as former Chelsea player Thibaut Courtois. Combined, both Navas and Courtois have just 10 clean sheets in La Liga after 31 games played.

Kepa, single-handedly has 12 clean sheets in the Premier League, increasing to 2o clean sheets in all competitions. So it’s fair to say that his debut season in the Premier League hasn’t been a total disaster.

The 24-year-old arrived at Stamford Bridge last summer for a recording breaking fee of £72 million, making him the most expensive goalkeeper of all time. In his first season, the Spaniard has played an impressive 44 games across all competitions for the Blues.

But his Chelsea career has not been entirely smooth sailing. Trouble came in February when Kepa refused to be substituted in the Carabao Cup Final.

His stubbornness caused him to publicly fall out with manager Maurizio Sarri, and demonstrated the unease surrounding Chelsea’s dressing room at the time.

If reports are correct, it seems that Madrid are eyeing the chance to capitalise on the unrest and sign Kepa for around £70 million.

Of course, David De Gea will likely remain Real’s number one goalkeeping target if they are to spend big, but Kepa is the cheaper and easier alternative if Zidane decides that he is right for his rebuilding process. As Featured in 90maat.com
