Talbi Stuns Chelsea with Late Winner as Sunderland Seal Dramatic 2–1 Victory at Stamford Bridge

Chemsdine Talbi struck in stoppage time to hand Sunderland a thrilling 2–1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The result lifts the newly promoted side to second in the Premier League standings after a resilient performance against the Blues.

Sunderland pulled off one of the shocks of the Premier League season after Chemsdine Talbi’s stoppage-time goal secured a 2–1 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, October 25, 2025.

The Black Cats, promoted just last season, stunned the home fans as Brian Brobbey held off defenders inside the box before teeing up Talbi, who coolly curled a low effort into the bottom corner to seal all three points. The win moves Sunderland up to second place in the table.

Chelsea had earlier taken the lead through Alejandro Garnacho, who finished clinically from a Pedro Neto assist after just four minutes. However, Sunderland refused to fold and equalised midway through the first half when Wilson Isidor reacted fastest to a scramble from Nordi Mukiele’s long throw, poking home to make it 1–1.

The second half was packed with drama as both sides pushed for a winner. Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez and Reece James came close, while Sunderland’s Xhaka and Zakayo tested Robert Sanchez. In the dying moments, Brobbey’s composure and Talbi’s precision sealed a famous win — and a massive statement from Regis Le Bris’ men.

The result leaves Chelsea frustrated after missing a chance to go second, while Sunderland continue their fairy-tale run in the top flight.
