AFC Leopards delivered one of the most dramatic comebacks of the season after scoring two stoppage-time goals to beat APS Bomet 2-1 in a pulsating league clash at Nyayo National Stadium on Saturday, January 17, 2026.

Christopher Koloti and Ronald Sichenje were the unlikely heroes as Ingwe turned despair into delight deep into added time, sending the packed stadium into frenzy and keeping their title charge firmly on course.

The match began cautiously, with APS Bomet setting up in a compact shape that proved difficult for Leopards to break down. Ingwe enjoyed more of the ball but struggled to create clear chances in the opening exchanges.

The best opportunity of the first half fell to Ugandan forward Samuel Ssenyonjo after James Kinyanjui shook off his marker and squared the ball neatly, only for the striker to blaze his effort wide when well placed.

In the second half, head coach Fred Ambani went for broke, introducing Victor Otieno and Julius Masaba in a bid to inject pace and creativity. The changes immediately lifted Ingwe, with Otieno playing a key role in creating two golden chances for Ssenyonjo. On both occasions, the forward failed to apply the finishing touch, first being denied from close range and later heading wide.

Those missed opportunities proved costly when APS Bomet struck late in the game. With just six minutes left on the clock, Wasai broke the deadlock to stun the home side and momentarily silence Nyayo.

Tempers flared as frustrated Leopards supporters reacted angrily, but the setback only seemed to fuel Ingwe’s determination. In a chaotic period of stoppage time, Leopards finally found a breakthrough as Koloti struck to restore parity, setting the stage for an unforgettable finale.

Moments later, Ronald Sichenje rose to the occasion with a decisive late goal that completed the turnaround and sealed maximum points for AFC Leopards.

The win marked Leopards’ third straight league victory at Nyayo, where they remain unbeaten this season. They had entered the match on the back of wins over Nairobi United and a dominant 4-0 triumph against Tusker FC.

The result sees Ingwe move to 33 points at the top of the table, three clear of archrivals Gor Mahia, albeit having played more matches. With momentum firmly on their side, Leopards continue to signal serious intent in the title race.
