Bandari Stun Tusker in Muranga to Claim Gritty 2-1 Win
- Bandari FC produced a composed and clinical display to edge Tusker FC 2-1 in a tense Kenya Premier League Round 17 clash in Muranga, leaving the brewers frustrated after another home setback.
Bandari FC continued their strong run in the Kenya Premier League after claiming a hard fought 2-1 victory over Tusker FC in a lively Round 17 encounter played in Muranga.
The visitors struck first in the 12th minute when Geoffrey Ojunga unleashed a powerful effort that beat the Tusker goalkeeper to put Bandari ahead. The goal silenced the home crowd but only briefly, as Tusker responded almost immediately.
Three minutes later, a well delivered free kick from Wanjala caused chaos in the Bandari box, with skipper Eugene Momanyi nodding the ball down perfectly for Fabian Adikiny to finish and restore parity for the brewers.
Bandari refused to sit back and their pressure eventually paid off again in the 39th minute. Cameroonian forward Amza Mubarak rose highest to head home a superb effort, giving the coastal side a 2-1 advantage heading into the break.
Tusker were forced into an early change after Momanyi picked up an injury and was replaced by Teka, disrupting their rhythm as they chased the game. Bandari also made tactical adjustments, reinforcing their defence to protect their slender lead.
The second half saw Tusker push numbers forward in search of an equaliser, but Bandari remained organised and disciplined at the back. Despite several promising moments, the brewers could not find a way past the visitors, who defended with resolve until the final whistle.
At full time, Bandari walked away with all three points, a result that underlined their growing confidence this season, while Tusker were left to reflect on missed opportunities and mounting pressure as the league campaign intensifies.
